Do you know the most crucial goal setting mistakes that most entrepreneurs make?
Goal setting is the very first step that you have to take in your business, so that you know exactly where you’re going.
You have to know what you are trying to accomplish, because without having a defined goal, you won’t get anywhere.
That is one of the reasons that most people (including myself in the beginning) are stuck exactly where they’re at in life.
And even when people identify where they wanna be, there are still 3 big goal setting mistakes that they make, that I’m share with you today.
Crush Your Goals This Year!
If you’re someone like me, and you’re willing to absolutely smash your goals within then next 12 months, you better take charge of your business NOW! If you really wanna go to the next level, live events is where it’s at! That’s where all the breakthroughs and transformations happen.
It’s one thing to watch a webinar online, but it’s a totally different experience when you actually meet people in PERSON, people that you look up to and learn from. I know this for a fact, and I realized that this industry is real after attending 2 events last year.
There’s an absolutely EPIC event happening this summer in August in a beautiful city – Austin, TX. You owe it to your success to be there (unless you like being stuck)! The speaker line up is sick! We’ve got Dr. Joe Dispenza as a keynote speaker, as well as Todd Falcone, Ray Higdon, and many more industry rockstars!
First of all, you have to understand that there’s a slight difference between a goal and a “why”. A “why” is the reason why you started a business in the first place. It’s something that pushes you to keep going no matter the obstacles. Your “why” could be your kids, your family, to retire your spouse or to quit your job, or to get out of debt.
Your goal, on the other hand, is a little bit different. It’s much close to the vision that you should have. It’s what you want to accomplish by being in this business. What does success mean to you? Is it a certain amount of income? Is it the amount of people that you can impact? Maybe you wanna write a book? Or become a speaker? Or be on TV? This is something bigger than you.
There’s a really good quote that sums it all up:
Pain pushes you until vision pulls you. ~Michael Beckwith (Click to Tweet)
1.Your goals are too small
How many times have you set those S.M.A.R.T. goals? I agree that your goals should be a little bit realistic, and that you don’t expect to make a million dollars in your first month of being in network marketing, because it just doesn’t happen. But why are you setting small goals?
One of the quotes that I like is by Donald Trump (don’t hate on me for that, nothing politics related) – “If you’re going to think anyway, why not think BIG?“.
You know what small goals do to you? They don’t really serve you or anybody around you. And they also don’t fire you up. If you’re not waking up excited every single day, then your goals are too small. Start thinking at 10X levels, so that you can take 10X action!
Let me give you an example. Maybe your goal is to create an additional $1,000 per month income. For some people it’s gonna make a big difference (and it actually does). But you know what, that goal rarely excites anybody.. That’s why most people cannot hit it. They’re not fired up about it. As a result you take small amounts of action, because it’s a pretty small goal. Some people may disagree with me on that, but that’s how I see it.
Why not 10X that goal and set a $10,000 a month income target. That’s a LOT more exciting. Just imagine yourself being already there. What kinda person do you need to become in order to achieve that? How much work do you need to put in to make it happen? Now THAT’s what I call goal setting. This type of goal will wake you up every morning and you’ll be taking MASSIVE amounts of action, because that’s a pretty MASSIVE goal.
Don’t settle for less and don’t make one of the craziest goal setting mistakes of trying to hit a small target. This only leads people to small amounts of action, and then they don’t hit, they get frustrated and may even quit. But if you fall a little bit short on $10K goal, but you still earn about $8K, you wouldn’t be really disappointed, because you know what you need to do to hit that goal anyways.
I hope that makes sense! In the video below I share 2 other goal setting mistakes, that a lot of entrepreneurs make. These are also the reasons why tons of people quit too soon.
