Marketing mistakes are made by a lot of entrepreneurs that are first starting out in the online business industry.

Some people learn it the hard way, like I have. You get to learn these mistakes right now and never make them in your business. 

In this blog post and video I expose 5 most common marketing mistakes, that a lot of people STILL make until this day in our industry, and how you can avoid them.

Mistake #1: Not being a part of the right team/community

When someone brand new joins an MLM company or any type of home business online, they need to be a part of community, that will help them get started. A lot of people get frustrated trying to do everything on their own, and that’s what I personally did when I first started out. It doesn’t work like this. You gotta be a part of a community of entrepreneurs, that are here to support you and guide you. 

My first network marketing experience was terrible. I didn’t have training, I didn’t have a mentor, I didn’t have anything. 95{f3c65145988e2e59c83e583cebd868b487b41a6223d103cb7159bbb31ea456e1} of people give up because they find it challenging to do everything on their own, and they don’t do the right things, which leads to zero results.

5 Marketing Mistakes Made When Starting An Online Business

Mistake #2: Not having a mentor

A mentor or a coach is someone who can guide you and show you exactly what you need to be doing in your business step by step. A mentor is a person who has made some marketing mistakes along the way and he/she will teach you how to avoid the exact same mistakes and achieve your results a lot faster. 

Having a mentor will definitely shortcut your journey to success, because he can analyze your business, and tell you what can you change and what tweaks can you make to start getting better results. 

Mistake #3: Not building your list since day one

This is one of the biggest marketing mistakes that I’ve made when I first started out in the network marketing industry. I didn’t have any skills and any knowledge regarding marketing in the beginning. And when I began to educated myself, I asked myself – what do all the leaders out there have in common? The answer was pretty obvious to me – they were ALL building their list of subscribers. The were creating content on a consistent basis in any shape or form, and then they had little capture pages requesting names and emails to give more information.

That was a big turning point for me, and I started realizing HOW all the top earners could start building a new online business and they would be at the TOP of the leader boards. All of them had list of subscribers that they have developed good relationships with.

Every single day you should be focusing on building your list and emailing your list – building relationships with your list, because your list is your biggest asset in this business. This is your security.

Mistake #4: Not following up with your leads

Acquiring leads is half the battle. In order to monetize your list, you MUST be consistently following up with them. You have to build relationships with them, so that they trust you enough to buy from you.

The problem is not to get a lead, the problem most marketers face is to CONVERT them. And that’s one of the biggest marketing mistakes that you will ever make – not following up. You will be leaving 90{f3c65145988e2e59c83e583cebd868b487b41a6223d103cb7159bbb31ea456e1}, if not 95{f3c65145988e2e59c83e583cebd868b487b41a6223d103cb7159bbb31ea456e1} of the money on the table by not doing that. 

So there are 2 types of follow up that you should be implementing in your marketing – email follow up and phone / Skype follow up. Both of them effective as long as you use them properly. 

The money is not in your list, it’s in the relationship you have with your list. Remember, your leads are not just numbers, these are real people with real challenges, and you are HERE to HELP them. 

Mistake #5: Not having your own custom funnel

What do I mean by that? A lot of people, when starting out in the online business, drive traffic to the company created squeeze pages, and that’s why they don’t generate enough leads – the conversion rate for these capture pages is extremely low, because thousands of other affiliates are using them too, so these pages get saturated

Instead of doing the same thing that 95{f3c65145988e2e59c83e583cebd868b487b41a6223d103cb7159bbb31ea456e1} of people are doing, you should have your own capture pages. If you’re brand new, you can use a system like My Lead System Pro, which has a lot of different capture pages that you can promote and attract people to YOU instead of the company name. You have to sell YOURSELF first before you sell your product, or business, or anything else. People will join YOU. Period. 

Eventually, as you sharpen your skills, and get more experience, you can (actually you HAVE to) create your own custom sales funnel that is branded to YOU. In order to stand out from the crowd, you have to differentiate yourself. It does require copywriting skills, but you will gain them over time.
