The first step in marketing is to define your target audience.
You can’t do any marketing before you are crystal clear about it. There’s no doubt that you MUST know who you are targeting.
So today I’m going to share 4 questions that you need to ask yourself in order to define your target audience, and as a result to sky-rocket your business.
1.Who is your dream customer?
Just thinking about who you want to attract is not enough. You have to have a clear image of the perfect customer that you want to work with. Is that a man or a woman? How old are they? What are they interested in? Are they married? Did they go to college? Or maybe they’re high school graduates? What are their problems? What are they struggling with? Be VERY specific when you define your target audience. Because if you’re targeting everyone, then you’re really targeting no one. Know your audience before putting your offer out there, or you’ll simply lose some money and never be in profit. Wrong Audience + Wrong Offer = Waste of Money
2.Where can you find them?
Now once you define your target audience, you need to figure out where exactly do they hang out. And that’s the part where most marketers struggle with. It’s quite simple to imagine your perfect customer, but it’s much more difficult to find where they are. What platforms are they using? Facebook? Or Maybe Instagram? What lists are they subscribed to? What blogs do they visit? It’s pretty simple to figure out based on the niche that you’re involved in. Let’s say you’re in internet marketing niche, and you’re trying to attract home business entrepreneurs who are struggling in their business, and they have no idea how to generate leads and build the business properly. So they may be hanging out on Facebook, and you can target them via Facebook Ads based on their network marketing companies. When you know where your target audience is, you can put your offer in front of them.
3.What bait will you use to attract them?
As soon as you define your target audience and where they hang out, it’s time for you to put your offer in front of them. Of course, you need to create something of value to your audience that you can give away, which is called a Lead Magnet. It has to be relevant to the audience you are trying to attract. If you’re looking for brand new people, you may offer them something like “Generate Your First 5 Leads Within the Next 24 Hours”. If you’re looking to attract more advanced marketers, you may create something like “List Building Made Easy”. You have already pre-qualified your audience by giving them a very specific offer. When you define your target audience clearly, you will know exactly what type of “bait” you need to create.
4.What results do you want to give to your customers?
Your audience is not really interested in product, they are interested in what the product would DO to them, they’re looking for an end result. So instead of focusing on making a damn sale, you have to position your product that way, that your audience will want to buy. And once your audience knows what they product can do for them, the price is no longer a barrier. Focus on your customers’ needs and desires, and show them what’s possible. This will make a huge difference in your business.
Once you define your target audience you can create a clear game plan and trust me, you’ll never run out of leads and customers for your business.
Remember, when you put the right offer in front of the right target audience the success is inevitable.
