Effective Communication

Effective communication is one of the most important skills that everyone should be working on, even before starting to actually market.

Even marketing is based on effective communication – the way that you spread your message and the way you talk to people in person.

Mastering the skills of effective communication will impact not only relationships with people overall, but also your business, and eventually your bank account as well.

Communication is not just exchanging information with the person you talk to, it’s also understanding the emotions of other people.

One of the rules of effective communication is not how much YOU can talk, it’s how you can LISTEN to your interlocutor. The less you talk, the better!

Are you listening?

The ability to listen well is an absolutely indispensable skill for success in all human relationships. Especially if you’re in a home business industry, and you’re talking with prospects on the phone, you can’t just spend the entire time talking about how great your product or service is, right? You need to listen to what are prospect’s needs, frustrations and desires. Once you learn how to listen, your sales will go up undoubtedly.  

Always Focus On the Other Person

Statistics show that almost 75{f3c65145988e2e59c83e583cebd868b487b41a6223d103cb7159bbb31ea456e1} of all the top salespeople are defined as introverts. So what does it mean to you? Even if top salespeople are considered to be introverts, there’s no excuses for YOU to practice effective communication in your business. It’s not how much you talk that determines your results, it’s how well you can listen to the other person.

Practice “White Magic” With Everyone

This is something that I learned from Brian Tracy – listening has even been called “white magic.” When a salesperson develops a reputation for being an excellent listener, prospects and customers feel comfortable and secure in his or her presence. They buy more readily, and more often. So the ability to listen is an absolute MUST that you need to develop in Your Marketing. 

Practice the 80/20 Rule

You may have already heard about the 80/20 Rule – Pareto principle. 

It simply means that 80{f3c65145988e2e59c83e583cebd868b487b41a6223d103cb7159bbb31ea456e1} of the conversation you should be listening to what your prospect says. And the rest 20{f3c65145988e2e59c83e583cebd868b487b41a6223d103cb7159bbb31ea456e1} you need to ask questions. 

When you actually think about it, it absolutely makes sense – God gave man two ears and one mouth. 

Action

Now you can easily put into practice all of these rules whenever you talk with your prospects either on Social Media or on the phone or Skype. 

Always listen more, and only ask questions accordingly to their answers. 

You need to find out what are the pains and frustration, what are the dreams and desires that your prospects have. 

That way you’ll be able to provide them the solution that they need without looking “salesy”.
