handle non-supportive friends

How do you handle non supportive friends and family when you’re just getting started in a new business venture?

That’s a conversation that I had with somebody a couple weeks ago, and they were frustrated of not getting any support from their close friends and family. So I wanted to address my answer in this post.

A Little About My Story

Part of my family wasn’t very supportive when I made a decision of not going to college, so I know what it’s like not being supported in what you’re doing.

My parents are actually the ones who got me into business, and my dad strongly insisted on not applying to college and not getting into debt, and instead getting focused on building a business. I’m super grateful for that, otherwise I’d be buried in a student debt, hoping to get a job one day and pay it off.

On the other hand was my grandfather, who didn’t really approve my choice, and he kept calling me almost every single day (he lives in Israel, so he “Skypes” me often), and researching different college opportunities. He was always sending me emails with different higher education options, and I kept ignoring them, because I didn’t wanna do this. And moreover, I don’t like to be pushed into doing something that I don’t want. So I almost started hating the entire “school-college-job” thing, because it didn’t all sound very promising.

Another thing was that I was still at high school when I got into business, and NONE of my friends supported me either. Even my teachers didn’t approve my choice. They were all telling me to apply the documents to those colleges and universities. So 95{f3c65145988e2e59c83e583cebd868b487b41a6223d103cb7159bbb31ea456e1} of the people around me didn’t believe in what I was doing, and in me. They all thought I got myself into some sort of “scam” or “pyramid“. We’ve all heard that objection, right?

Now, I don’t know if you can relate to that or not, because my story can be very different from yours. But my point here is – we may all have family members that don’t support us in whatever we’re doing (especially if we go against the rules). So how do you handle non supportive friends and family? How do you keep going even when the closest people to you don’t approve? How do you stay on track for your goals and keep pushing no matter what?

In the video below I share a couple of very helpful tips that are gonna allow you to move forward with your business, and prove to everyone (and to yourself) that this business works! Because at the end of the day, you shouldn’t just prove everyone around you wrong, you should prove to YOURSELF that this business is the real deal, as long as you keep taking action.
